Prabowo Meets US Ambassador to ASEAN, Discusses Regional Stability

President Prabowo Subianto received US Ambassador to ASEAN Kevin Kim and Chargé d'affaires ad interim of the US Mission to ASEAN Joy M. Sakurai at his private residence in Hambalang, West Java, on Saturday afternoon (5/9). Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that the meeting discussed efforts to enhance bilateral cooperation, including promoting collaboration and stability in the region. According to Teddy, the meeting was part of efforts to continuously strengthen the strategic relationship and partnership between Indonesia and the US. "Various efforts to enhance cooperation between the two countries were discussed in the meeting, including promoting cooperation and stability in the region, as well as deepening the relationship between the two countries based on the principle of mutual respect and equal partnership," he said in an official statement. Teddy expressed his expectation that the meeting would further strengthen the foundation of the Indonesia-US relationship, both bilaterally and in cooperation to support regional progress. "This meeting is expected to further strengthen the foundation of the Indonesia-US relationship, as well as promote closer, constructive, and mutually beneficial cooperation, both bilaterally and in supporting peace, stability, and progress in the region," he added. Indonesia and the United States have a long-standing strategic partnership spanning various sectors, including economy, security, and cultural exchange. Regional stability and prosperity in ASEAN are of common interest to both nations, and this meeting, amidst a complex regional landscape, likely served to reaffirm the importance of their cooperative ties.
