Cambodia Inspects Water Resources and Meteorology Management in Pailin Province

His Excellency Sin Visith, Undersecretary of State of the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology, inspected the management of water resources and meteorology in Pailin Province on Tuesday, September 22, 2026. His Excellency the Undersecretary of State visited the irrigation systems in Salakrou District. The Thnal Bot irrigation system (Salakrou Commune) has sufficient water for agricultural production and daily use. Meanwhile, the Phum Sbei and Ou Dontaa irrigation systems in Stung Treng Commune, which had been dry for many months, are now seeing sufficient water levels in the Phum Sbei system, while the Ou Dontaa system has about 30% water and is expected to have enough by next week. His Excellency also inspected the dredging of waterways and the elevation of the riverbank dam in Bortangsu Village, Baryakha Commune, Pailin City. This work, implemented by the provincial Department of Water Resources and Meteorology, is 100% complete and aims to prevent riverbank erosion and protect the rubber road and the homes of 15 families from flash floods. His Excellency advised the Director of the Pailin Provincial Department of Water Resources and Meteorology to continue closely monitoring climate changes to develop effective water resource management plans. He also emphasized the need to enhance timely information dissemination to local authorities and the public, particularly early warnings about flash floods originating from mountainous areas, to facilitate timely preparedness and reduce disaster risks.
