Thanh Hoa: Sunken Fishing Boat Quickly Salvaged at Lach Ghep

On the afternoon of September 13, the Thanh Hoa Provincial Border Guard Command announced that the Hai Hoa Border Guard Station, along with officials and residents of Ngoc Son ward, had successfully and promptly salvaged a sunken fishing boat at Lach Ghep. Earlier, around 6:30 AM on September 13, the fishing vessel TH-91594-TS, with a capacity of 90CV and a length of 13.8 meters, owned by Mr. Cao Van Chung (born 1977) residing in Dong Minh residential group, Ngoc Son ward, which was engaged in trap fishing, was anchored in the Lach Ghep area. It suddenly sank. Upon receiving the report, the Hai Hoa Border Guard Station dispatched 6 officers and soldiers with a pump to quickly reach the scene. They coordinated with local authorities, the fishing vessel owner's family, and mobilized about 30 local residents to organize pumping operations and salvage the vessel, moving it to a safe location. Initial assessments indicate that the vessel was anchored near the shore. As the tide receded, the hull tilted according to the curved radius of the riverbed, causing water to flood the compartment and leading to the sinking. The incident caused no human casualties. The estimated property damage is around 80 million VND. The Hai Hoa Border Guard Station will continue to maintain strict duty shifts, closely monitor weather conditions, and coordinate with local authorities to review anchoring areas and fishing vessels. Guidance will be provided for the arrangement, lashing, and reinforcement of fishing boats to ensure safety in disaster response, fire and explosion prevention, and to avoid unnecessary risks and losses.
