BYD Car Hits, Drags Taxi Driver for 50 Meters in Jakarta Tol Tomang Accident

West Jakarta Metro Police are investigating a traffic accident that occurred on Saturday, September 19, 2026, around 11:30 AM WIB near the Tomang Toll Gate exit. The incident involved two electric vehicles, a BYD car and a Green Taxi, and has gone viral on social media. According to AKP Joko Siswanto, Head of the Traffic Unit of the West Jakarta Metro Police, the incident began when a BYD car with license plate B-1366-AZL, driven by Agustam, rear-ended a Green Taxi with license plate B-1070-SLF, which was traveling in the same direction ahead of it. As a result of the collision, the taxi's rear right bumper was dented. The situation escalated when the taxi driver, Budi Hendra, approached the BYD driver to demand accountability. As Budi Hendra held onto the left front door of the BYD car, Agustam allegedly accelerated, dragging Budi Hendra for dozens of meters. "While demanding accountability, the taxi driver was dragged by the BYD vehicle for about 50 meters," stated Joko. After the incident, Agustam reportedly handed over his ID card to the victim as a guarantee before leaving the scene. However, when police officers visited the address listed in Curug, Tangerang Regency, it was found that the perpetrator no longer resided there. Police have confirmed that there were no fatalities or serious injuries in the incident.
