Cambodia has reaffirmed its strong commitment to attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) and advancing the transformation of its domestic industries. Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), underscored the government's firm resolve during the 3rd Public-Private Business Breakfast Meeting held in Phnom Penh on August 6th. The event, organized by the China Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia (CCCC) with support from the CDC, focused on the theme "Strengthening the Foundation of Supply Chains: Promoting Cambodia's Industrial Transformation." It saw the participation of senior government officials, representatives from various ministries, diplomatic envoys, and leaders from key international business associations, including the American Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia (AmCham), the European Chamber of Commerce (EuroCham), the Japanese Business Association (JBAC), and the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KOCHAM). Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol emphasized the government's, and particularly the CDC's, commitment to implementing sharp internal reforms aimed at enhancing the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of the institution's core functions. These include: (1) promoting and attracting FDI by publicizing Cambodia's diverse investment potential and opportunities, (2) providing comprehensive investment facilitation from application to smooth project operation, and (3) offering close post-investment services and support to ensure long-term investor confidence and success in Cambodia. Furthermore, the Deputy Prime Minister encouraged the private sector to work closely with the Cambodian government in preparing to shift towards consolidating investments in industries that are the source of production supply chains and offer high added value. He also called for more active and closer communication mechanisms between the public and private sectors to jointly build new achievements and success stories on Cambodian soil. The meeting reflected the spirit of close, open, and trusting cooperation between the international business and investment community and the Cambodian government, strengthening collaboration through direct dialogue mechanisms to ensure a favorable and confident investment environment.
