US Business Leaders Pledge Expanded Investment and Trade in Cambodia

A delegation from the US-ASEAN Business Council, led by Brian McFeeters, paid a courtesy call on Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet. The meeting focused on strengthening economic cooperation, expanding trade, and promoting US investment in Cambodia. The delegation affirmed their commitment to expanding trade relations between Cambodia and the United States, encouraging the creation of new investment opportunities for American companies operating or intending to expand their businesses in Cambodia. The delegation also highlighted the significant benefits American companies can bring to the Cambodian market, including world-class products and services, transparent and trustworthy business operations, the introduction of modern technology, and long-term investment in the development of local workers and communities. The delegation stated that increasing the presence of American companies in Cambodia will not only help expand the trade and investment sectors but also create new jobs, enhance the skills and capacity of Cambodian human resources, and connect Cambodian businesses to broader global supply chains and markets. This meeting is viewed as a positive sign for strengthening economic and trade relations between Cambodia and the United States, as the Cambodian government continues to improve the investment climate and attract more foreign investors to drive economic growth and sustainable development. The Ministry of Commerce reported that from January to June this year, bilateral trade between Cambodia and the United States totaled $7.4 billion, an increase of 31.44 percent. Additionally, the Council for the Development of Cambodia stated that the United States was among the top ten foreign investors in Cambodia during the first half of the year.
