Cambodia Holds Press Conference on New US Import Tariff Rates
Cambodia's Deputy Prime Minister held a press conference regarding new tariff rates on exports to the United States, following an investigation under Section 301 of the US Trade Act. The new tariff rate for Cambodia will be 10%.
Cambodia's Deputy Prime Minister, Sun Chanthol, will hold a press conference this afternoon regarding 'New Tariff Rates for Imports from Cambodia to the United States.' The press conference is scheduled for 3:00 PM on July 27, 2026, at the headquarters of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC). Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol, First Vice Chairman of the CDC, will be joined by representatives from the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Ministry of Commerce. The conference aims to explain the new tariff rates following an investigation into compliance with Article 301 of the US Trade Act. It is noted that on Thursday, July 23, 2026, the United States announced new tariffs on 60 countries amid concerns about forced labor. These new tariffs will replace the 10% global tariff announced by President Donald Trump earlier this year, which was set to expire on Friday, July 24. For Cambodia, the new tariff rate will be 10%, which is lower than the rates of 12.5% imposed on neighboring countries like Thailand and Vietnam. Source: CPP Cambodia
