Cambodia Deports 165 Chinese Nationals for Scams and Other Offenses

Cambodia has deported 165 Chinese nationals, including nine women, who were found to be involved in online scams, illegal stay, and drug-related offenses. This action reflects Prime Minister Hun Manet's firm commitment to preventing the country from becoming a hub for criminal activities. The deportations took place on August 2nd at the Techo International Airport Immigration Police Post, following instructions from Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sar Sokha and the leadership of the Ministry of Interior. The operation was led by Lieutenant General Sok Vathana, Director General of the General Department of Immigration. Authorities confirmed that the deported individuals were implicated in technology-based scams (online scams), as well as illegal residency, unauthorized employment, and the illegal use of narcotics. Prime Minister Hun Manet has consistently stated, "Cambodia will not allow criminals or illegal persons to use Cambodian territory as a base for scamming activities or other offenses that threaten the security of the region and the world." He further emphasized, "Authorities must continue to clean up, suppress, and deport without exception to protect the nation's honor and security." Under the direct guidance of Deputy Prime Minister Sar Sokha, relevant authorities are diligently working to eradicate technology crimes, investigate and apprehend masterminds, and rescue scam victims for their safe return home.
