August 8 Mizzima. To commemorate the 38th anniversary of the 8888 pro-democracy uprising, the Yangon People's Protest group, along with the people of Myanmar, jointly carried out an 8888 umbrella protest activity in front of the Myanmar Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand, early this morning (August 8). In this activity, red umbrellas with the "8" symbol, which is the symbol of the 8888 uprising, were used, demonstrating that the spirit of the people's demand for democracy and freedom in 1988 continues to live on to this day, 38 years later. Furthermore, the Yangon People's Protest group chanted slogans such as "Towards freedom from fear," "The unfinished 8888 people's liberation, let us fight together," and "For the sacrificed generation, our generation will repay the blood debt."
