Bean prices slightly increase in Kantbalu market

Bean prices have slightly increased in the Kantbalu market in the Sagaing Region, according to the Directorate of Consumer Affairs, Sagaing Region. In the first week of August, red beans were traded at around 89,000 kyats per tin, and white beans at around 79,500 kyats per tin. However, in the first week of September, red beans are being traded at around 91,000 kyats per tin, and white beans at around 81,000 kyats per tin, marking an increase of approximately 2,000 kyats per tin for red beans and 1,500 kyats per tin for white beans. Various crops are cultivated in Kantbalu Township, but according to records from the Department of Agriculture, beans are primarily grown as they are suitable for the water, soil, and climate conditions. Crops from the Kantbalu region are transported and sold to wholesale markets and commodity exchanges in Mandalay City, and bean and sesame traders stated that price fluctuations in the local market depend on the Mandalay market.
