Jakarta Aims to Reduce Stunting Rate by 3% in Two Years
The Governor of Jakarta has set a target to reduce the stunting rate among infants and children from the current 17% to 14% within two years. Strengthening the role of Posyandu (Integrated Community Health Posts) and promoting digitalization are key to this effort.
The Governor of Jakarta, Anies Baswedan, has instructed the Jakarta Health Agency to strive to reduce the stunting rate from the current 17 percent to 14 percent within two years. This was conveyed by Baswedan during the DKI Jakarta 2026 Health Sector Posyandu Cadre Jamboree in Cempaka Putih, Central Jakarta, on Friday (11/9). "I hope Mrs. Ani and the ranks, regarding stunting which is currently averaging around 17 percent, can be reduced to 14 percent in the next two years, the same as the national stunting rate," said Baswedan to the Head of the DKI Jakarta Health Agency, Ani Ruspitawati. Baswedan also emphasized the role of Posyandu (Integrated Community Health Posts) in this stunting reduction effort. "And for that, it is the duty of all of you, especially those at Posyandu, because stunting is a relatively complex factor," he said. However, Posyandu is not only seen as an institution for stunting issues but also as an institution that can handle health comprehensively. "Posyandu is not just about maternal and child health; it has now become an institution at the grassroots level for how comprehensive health issues can be handled by Posyandu," he said. Baswedan mentioned the digitalization of services in the Smart Posyandu program. Out of approximately 4,469 total Posyandu in Jakarta, around 3,148 are Smart Posyandu, which is about 70 percent.
