Battambang Province, Cambodia, held a meeting to accelerate service provision for veterans residing in social land concessions. The provincial governor expressed gratitude for their contributions to national liberation and ordered improvements in infrastructure and livelihoods.
Battambang Province -- On July 28, 2026, HE Sok Lou, Governor of Battambang Province and President of the Battambang Provincial Committee of the Cambodian Veterans and Retirees Association, led a meeting to accelerate the provision of services to veterans living on social land concessions in Kralor District. The meeting was held on July 27, 2026, in the meeting hall of the Battambang Provincial Hall. HE Sok Lou stated that veterans have made immense and invaluable contributions, sacrificing their lives and making every effort for the cause of liberating the nation and its people from the Pol Pot genocidal regime, leading to the current peace and development of Cambodia. He instructed authorities, ministries, and relevant agencies to continue paying attention to and resolving the difficulties faced by veterans. Professional ministries and relevant agencies must expedite the connection of electricity networks, water systems, health posts, pagodas, and schools to facilitate the living conditions of veterans and their families. The working group must also urge veterans to increase their farming and animal husbandry activities to support their daily livelihoods and to plant trees around their homes to enhance environmental aesthetics. Battambang Province has two social land concession sites for veterans and retirees, established in Kralor District. The first site, located in Prey Sen village, Chhnal Mon Commune, is home to 300 veteran and retiree families, while the second site, in Kor Roka village, Donba Commune, hosts 184 veteran and retiree families.
