Vietnam Marks 81 Years of National Progress and Growing Global Role

Vietnam is celebrating the 81st anniversary of its National Day, marking a remarkable transformation from a poor, underdeveloped nation into a dynamic economy with a growing presence on the global stage. Ahead of this significant milestone, Party officials in Hanoi paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh, the revered founder of modern Vietnam, expressing profound gratitude for his immense contributions to the nation's revolutionary cause. He dedicated his entire life to the people and the country, leading the Party and the Vietnamese people to glorious victories. Vietnam is actively engaged in international diplomacy. At the expanded Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Bishkek, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan held meetings with UN officials, among others, affirming the country's commitment to strengthening cooperation for regional and global peace, stability, and development. Vietnam aims to serve as a bridge to promote cooperation between ASEAN and the SCO, and enhance connectivity between Southeast Asia and Central Asia. The US Department of State has commended Vietnam's growing leadership as a partner, particularly its distinguished role as a founding member supporting the Board of Peace. The nation also attaches great importance to its special solidarity, friendship, and comprehensive cooperation with Cuba, expressing confidence in the Cuban Party, State, and people achieving new successes in national development. Economically, after four decades of Doi Moi (Renewal), Vietnam has achieved significant milestones, with a projected GDP of $514 billion by 2025, economic growth of 8.02%, total trade turnover of $930 billion, and registered foreign direct investment (FDI) exceeding $38.4 billion. This economic progress solidifies Vietnam's standing in the international community. Efforts to strengthen ties with neighboring countries are also underway, including an upcoming official visit by Myanmar's President Min Aung Hlaing and his spouse, and congratulatory messages to the King of Malaysia. Vietnam strives to remain an active and responsible member of the international community, steadfastly upholding international law, the UN Charter, and multilateralism while promoting dialogue and cooperation for sustainable development.
