Anak Krakatau Eruption: Regional Civil Servants Allowed Up to 100% Work From Home

Indonesia's Minister of Home Affairs has announced a policy allowing regional civil servants (ASN Daerah) working in areas affected by the eruption of the Anak Krakatau volcano to work from home (WFH) up to 100%. This measure aims to ensure the safety of civil servants from the direct impacts of the eruption, associated infrastructure damage, and transportation disruptions, while maintaining the continuity of administrative services. Anak Krakatau volcano is an active volcano located in the Sunda Strait between Java and Sumatra islands, which has previously shown activity such as causing tsunamis. The extent and severity of the impact from this eruption will be determined based on the local conditions. The Ministry of Home Affairs will coordinate with local governments to implement support measures for affected civil servants. The scope and duration of WFH application will be decided by the heads of each local government, considering the local situation and the nature of the duties. This will enable civil servants to perform their duties from home even when physical movement is difficult or safety cannot be guaranteed.
