Quang Tri Province Enhances Martyr Commemoration and Remains Collection Efforts

In Quang Tri Province, central Vietnam, efforts to commemorate martyrs and honor individuals who contributed to the revolution, along with policy beneficiaries and their families, are being intensified. A delegation from the 4th Military Region Command, led by Commander Lieutenant General Ha Tho Binh, visited the province on July 23rd to engage in these activities and inspect the work related to the search and collection of martyrs' remains. Quang Tri Province is known as a fierce battlefield during the Vietnam War, where numerous soldiers lost their lives. Consequently, the collection and veneration of martyrs' remains are considered a matter of national importance. To date, DNA samples have been collected from over 2,000 remains at the National Cemetery of Martyrs on Route 9. Additionally, memorial services and burial activities for martyrs' remains, as well as collection efforts, have been conducted in various locations, including Cua Viet commune and the Cau Nhi area in Nam Hai Lang commune. These activities serve to honor the nation's historical memory and show respect for the fallen soldiers and their families. Under Vietnam's one-party communist system, commemorating martyrs and implementing social policies are considered essential elements for fostering national unity and patriotism. Furthermore, as Vietnam continues its economic growth, preventing the fading of memories from past wars is seen as vital for maintaining the nation's identity.
