Youths returning from KTV attacked by Pyu Saw Htee group for refusing conscription, 2 youths dead and 1 injured

In Pantanaw Township, Maubin District, Ayeyarwaddy Region, three youths returning from a KTV were attacked by a group led by Pyu Saw Htee leader Kyaw Gyi, who is also the son of the administrator, for refusing to be conscripted. Two youths died and one was injured, according to local residents. The incident occurred around 8:30 PM on September 17, when a group of five, including Pyu Saw Htee leader Kyaw Gyi, attempted to forcibly conscript three youths returning from a KTV located on the Yangon-Pathein highway in the new town area of Pantanaw Township, threatening them with guns. During the attempted arrest, a scuffle broke out between both sides, and Kyaw Gyi and his group attacked with knives, according to sources. Maug Htun Min Aung from Hlaing Tar Nga Ein Tan village, who was stabbed, died on the spot that night with five stab wounds directly to his heart. Maug Nyo Soe, who was with Maug Htun Min Aung, also sustained severe injuries and was transferred from Pantanaw Hospital to Maubin Hospital for treatment, but he passed away around 10 PM on September 19. The remaining youth is currently receiving medical treatment at Pantanaw Hospital, where police personnel are providing security and restricting access to anyone other than family members. The perpetrator, Pyu Saw Htee Kyaw Gyi, is the son of the local administrator U Khin Maung Kyi, and his group is reportedly working in coordination with some authorities to engage in drug trafficking, operate illegal KTVs, and arbitrarily abduct youths for conscription within the township, according to local residents.
