Seven leaders of illegal online gambling games arrested

The Myanmar Police Force announced on September 13 that they have arrested a total of seven individuals, two men and five women, who were leading illegal online gambling games. It was found that they had set up agent levels in stages to encourage more people to play online gambling games, and were engaged in leading, soliciting, and expanding the gambling network. Therefore, investigations were carried out to arrest the higher-level agents, and they were identified and arrested based on information provided by responsible citizens. In the course of these investigations, on September 2, Phyo Singyi, a senior agent of the Ibet 789 online gambling game, was arrested at Yangon International Airport with two mobile phones. Furthermore, three offenders, including Senior Agent Hnin Wutty Kyaw, were identified and arrested at a house in Pin U Lwin Township, Mandalay Region, along with eight mobile phones, one laptop, one tablet, and one motor vehicle, according to the announcement. Subsequently, on September 4, Kyaw Soe Lin, a senior agent of the online gambling game, was arrested at a hotel in Ye Ok Kan Ward, Hlaing Thar Yar Township, Yangon Region, with two mobile phones and two motor vehicles. It was also stated in the announcement that Yin Yin Nu, a senior agent of the online gambling game, was identified and arrested in Thaketa Township, Yangon Region, with one mobile phone. Currently, cases have been filed against the seven individuals arrested for operating online gambling businesses, and effective measures are being taken. The announcement also stated that individuals who are leading as online gambling agents will continue to be identified, arrested, and prosecuted.
