Palace Orders Alternative Class, Work Setup in NCR, 13 Areas Due to Southwest Monsoon

Public and private schools in Metro Manila and 13 other provinces will shift to alternative learning modes on Thursday, September 10, 2026, while government offices will adopt alternative work arrangements as Southwest Monsoon rains are expected to persist. Malacañang issued Memorandum Circular 135 on Monday upon the recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) and in view of PAGASA's heavy rainfall warnings. The areas covered are: "Unless otherwise directed by their respective Local Chief Executives, alternative learning modes for classes at all levels in public and private schools shall be implemented in the aforementioned areas," the circular said. It added that agencies involved in the delivery of basic and health services, disaster preparedness and response, and other vital services shall continue their operations and render the necessary services. Contract of service and job order workers shall be paid their corresponding wages or salaries, subject to applicable rules and regulations.
