Five Victims of the Virgo Transport 8 Shipwreck Identified

Five bodies of victims from the sunken Virgo Transport 8 ship, evacuated some time ago, have been identified. All five victims confirmed are male and were residents from outside South Kalimantan. Kabid Dokkes Polda Kalsel, Kombes dr. Moch Sofwan, stated that the identification process for the five victims was carried out using several methods, including personal belongings, medical records, secondary characteristics, and dental information. Sofwan mentioned that the DVI team received a total of 9 bodies in the past few days. However, only five have been identified so far, while the process for the remaining four is still ongoing. This incident highlights the critical importance of safety measures in maritime transportation within Indonesia, an archipelagic nation where sea travel is essential for the movement of people and goods. The prompt and effective identification of victims is crucial in such incidents.
