SOSORO Museum and SIPAR Launch Illustrated Book on Cambodia's Economic History

The Preah Srey Içanavarman Museum of Economy and Money (SOSORO Museum) has partnered with educational publishing organization SIPAR to launch a new illustrated book designed to make Cambodia’s economic and monetary history more accessible to readers of all ages. The publication was officially unveiled during a launch event held in the museum’s garden, attended by representatives from Cambodia’s cultural and education sectors. The illustrated book provides a concise overview of the museum’s permanent exhibition, presenting more than 2,000 years of Cambodia’s economic and monetary development through simplified text and visual illustrations. Available in Khmer, English and French, the publication is intended to serve both as a companion for museum visitors and as a standalone educational resource. Expanding Access to Historical Knowledge The project reflects a broader effort by both organizations to improve public access to Cambodia’s historical and cultural heritage through accessible educational materials. By combining SIPAR’s experience in educational publishing with the SOSORO Museum’s historical research and collections, the publication seeks to make complex historical and economic topics easier to understand for students, families, educators and international visitors. The initiative also supports wider efforts to strengthen historical literacy while encouraging greater engagement with Cambodia’s museums and cultural institutions. Partnership Focused on Education Speaking at the launch, Blaise Kilian, Co-Director of the SOSORO Museum, said improving public understanding of Cambodia’s history remains one of the museum’s central objectives. He said the partnership with SIPAR has created an easy-to-read publication that introduces readers from diverse backgrounds to the museum’s permanent exhibition and Cambodia’s rich economic heritage. Hok Sothik, Director General of SIPAR, said the organization was proud to collaborate on the project, describing the book as a valuable educational resource for both young Cambodians and international visitors.
