Discussion on supporting health, education and development activities

The National Unity and Peace Process Coordination Committee and the Karen National Union/Karen National Liberation Army-Peace Council (KNU/KNLA-PC) held a meeting at the Shwe San Eain Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw on July 6th, discussing the matter of the state government providing support for the health, education, and development activities of the public. At the meeting, Chairman of the Coordination Committee, Lieutenant General Ya Pyae, stated that the KNU/KNLA Peace Council group is an organization that continuously works together with them, and expressed a desire for cooperation to ensure regional stability, improve transportation, and facilitate the smooth and rapid flow of goods, as well as to discuss regional development openly. Following this, Dr. Naw Kaphaw Htoo, Vice Chairman of the KNU/KNLA Peace Council, expressed gratitude for the state government's invitation to continue pursuing peace, and stated that they are very proud to have this opportunity while peace has not yet been broken, adding that peace can be achieved easily if pursued with sincerity and honesty, and that continued collective efforts are necessary. Subsequently, attendees of the meeting discussed the continuous implementation of the NCA and persistent efforts to prevent regional clashes, the state government's support for public health, education, and development activities, the provision of necessary textbooks and teaching aids for schools in the Thottkoekoe region, the acquisition of drinking water purification systems and safe water, support for malaria prevention and treatment drugs and related medicines, provision of influenza vaccines and tuberculosis medications, swift and smooth transportation and commodity flow, and coordinated efforts for regional stability and peace. Following this, Lieutenant General Min Naing, Secretary of the Coordination Committee, explained that the NSPNC is prioritizing and working on processes to reduce conflicts and achieve peace through stability. He elaborated on the implementation of peace processes with ethnic armed organizations that have signed the NCA, organizations that have deviated from the NCA path, and ethnic armed organizations that have not signed the NCA under the new state government. He also discussed the systematic control of subordinate organizations to prevent regional conflicts and the search for constructive methods for peace through bilateral discussions. It was reported that after the discussions, the points raised by both sides were coordinated for record-keeping and then signed and approved.
