Vietnam Opens 33rd Diplomatic Conference, General Secretary and President Delivers Keynote

Vietnam officially opened its 33rd Diplomatic Conference on August 1st, according to the Nhan Dan newspaper. The opening ceremony was attended by General Secretary of the Communist Party Central Committee and President Tô Lâm, who delivered a keynote address. The conference was held in a hybrid format, combining in-person sessions with online connections to provincial Party committees and Vietnamese representative missions abroad. The conference convenes at a significant time, following the successful conclusion of the 14th Party Congress and the elections for the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels. The Party and the State have outlined crucial, historically significant policies aimed at achieving the nation's 100-year strategic objectives, with foreign affairs and international integration identified as consistently vital elements. Under Vietnam's one-party system, foreign policy is steered by the Party to achieve national goals. In recent years, Vietnam has experienced rapid economic growth while navigating complex relations, particularly with China, involving issues like the South China Sea, yet maintaining economic ties through skillful diplomacy.
