Southern Vietnam Faces Rain for Several Days Due to Tropical Depression

Southern Vietnam is bracing for several days of rain as a tropical depression develops and influences the region's weather. According to the Southern Hydro-Meteorological Station, a tropical disturbance over the southwestern waters of the Paracel Islands (Đặc khu Hoàng Sa) intensified into a tropical depression early on September 12. The tropical depression is forecast to move northwest at a speed of approximately 10 km/h. From September 12 to 14, a tropical convergence zone, coupled with the tropical depression over the East Sea, will be the primary weather-influencing system for the southern region of Vietnam. Consequently, scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected across many areas, with some experiencing heavy rainfall. The rain is anticipated to be most concentrated in the afternoons and evenings. Mornings are likely to see reduced cloud cover and weak sunshine in many places, though isolated showers may still occur in the Mekong Delta region. Around September 14, the tropical convergence zone is projected to shift its axis northward, potentially leading to a slight decrease in both the extent and intensity of rainfall. However, scattered showers and thunderstorms are still likely in the afternoons and evenings, with localized heavy downpours possible. Residents are advised to be cautious of potential tornadoes, lightning, and strong gusts during thunderstorms. The weather situation could become more dynamic and complex in the coming days due to the presence of the tropical depression over the East Sea. The low-pressure area in the central East Sea is expected to strengthen into a tropical depression within the next one to two days. Heavy rainfall in central Vietnam is forecast to continue until the morning of September 16.
