CNF and CDF temporarily controlled Tantalan City, Tatmadaw columns recaptured and controlled the entire city

It is reported that Tatmadaw columns completely recaptured and controlled Tantalan City in Chin State, which was temporarily controlled by the joint forces of CNF and CDF, local armed groups in Chin State, on July 16. The joint forces of CNF and CDF, in order to halt the government's administrative machinery in Tantalan City, Chin State, have been engaged in security operations in Tantalan City since February 2023. They used overwhelming force and disproportionate heavy weapons against the security forces conducting security operations, taking cover behind government offices, religious buildings, schools, hospitals, and residential buildings that are not military targets. Although the security forces resisted, due to the increasing number of casualties among the security forces, depletion of ammunition, weather conditions, terrain, and damage to the homes and departmental buildings of local residents, they temporarily withdrew from Tantalan City. While the joint forces of CNF and CDF were temporarily controlling Tantalan City, they forcibly took and used household items and valuables from residential buildings, and built bunkers, trenches, and communication trenches in government offices, religious buildings, schools, and hospitals that were not military targets, attempting to establish a strong defense and engage in battles within the city and villages. In response, the Tatmadaw columns, in order to protect the lives, homes, and property of the people and to recapture the city and villages with minimal damage to departmental buildings and residential buildings, developed plans and carried out necessary preparations and formations. They then launched a Counter-Terrorism Operation against the joint forces of CNF and CDF, and on October 29, 2023, they completely recaptured Tantalan City, and the joint forces of CNF and CDF fled with heavy casualties. The joint forces of CNF and CDF, which suffered heavy casualties, reorganized personnel and ammunition to attack Tantalan City again. On July 22, 2024, they launched a second attack, taking advantage of the security forces' vulnerability, with overwhelming manpower and firepower. Although the security forces resisted to prevent Tantalan City from falling into enemy hands, due to the overwhelming increase in manpower of the CNF and CDF joint forces and the extensive damage to the homes of the people and departmental buildings, the security forces had to temporarily withdraw from some areas within Tantalan City and were engaged in confronting and controlling the enemy. The Tatmadaw columns have been making efforts under various difficulties since June 12, 2024, to recapture and control the areas temporarily abandoned within Tantalan City. They have successfully recaptured and controlled the Township Police Station on June 13, the Basic Education Primary School No. 3 on June 19, the Basic Education High School No. 1 on July 5, the People's Hospital on July 8, the Township Fire Brigade Office on July 12, and the Hotel Zone area on the evening of July 15. On July 16, they completely recaptured and controlled Tantalan City. It is reported that in order to quickly resume regional development activities in these areas, reconstruction materials and supplies are being transported to the respective regions in a timely manner by Tatmadaw aircraft and vehicles, in accordance with the guidance of the State Government, and that relevant departments are carrying out regional reconstruction activities.
