Pattaya Police Arrest Spotter for Fake Police Gang Extorting Victims

Pattaya City Police announced late Tuesday that they have arrested a 40-year-old man identified as a spotter for a gang that impersonated police officers, conducted searches, detained victims, and extorted money. The arrest was made around 9 p.m. on September 8th by Police Colonel Anek Srathongyu, superintendent of Muang Pattaya Police Station, along with investigation officers from the station. According to police, the gang allegedly entered victims' homes and pretended to conduct searches and detentions to extort cash. This arrest is part of an ongoing investigation into crimes exploiting public authority, which are believed to be on the rise in Pattaya.
