Myanmar-India sign five QIP projects worth US$244,068 for 2026-2027 fiscal year

Five QIP projects worth US$244,068 for the 2026-2027 fiscal year have been signed between Myanmar and India. It is known that five Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) have been signed between the Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the Government of the Republic of India for the implementation of "Quick Impact Projects (QIPs)" for the 2026-2027 fiscal year, according to the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations. The MoU signing ceremony was held on September 11 at the meeting hall of Office No. 1 of the Ministry of National Planning, Investment and Foreign Economic Relations, attended by U Aung Naing Oo, Union Minister for National Planning, Investment and Foreign Economic Relations, Deputy Ministers and officials from relevant ministries, and H.E. Mr. Abhay Thakur, Ambassador of India to Myanmar, along with First Secretary Mr. Amit Shreeansh and officials. At the MoU signing ceremony, the MoUs were signed by officials from the respective ministries and First Secretary Mr. Amit Shreeansh from the Embassy of India in Myanmar on behalf of the Government of the Republic of India. Specifically, the Ministry of Information signed the MoU on the implementation of the Media Training Center Establishment Project; the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development signed the MoU on the implementation of the Solar Power Project for Earthquake-Affected Rural Areas; the Ministry of Construction signed the MoUs on the purchase of construction machinery driving training machines and engine model cutaways for use as teaching aids at the Central Training School, and the purchase of system training aids for construction machinery for use at the Central Training School; and the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism signed the MoU on the implementation of the Manaung Yataw Pagoda Preservation Project. These projects have a total value of US$244,068, and joint project monitoring and supervision committees comprising representatives from both countries will be formed to oversee and implement the projects. In addition to the five QIP projects signed this time, another five projects will be provided as assistance by the Government of India, and a total of 10 QIP projects will be implemented in the 2026-2027 fiscal year.
