However, the victim, reportedly intoxicated, got lost on his way home and stopped to drink palm wine at a nearby establishment. The defendant waited for the victim, but the victim's motorcycle was held by the shop owner for unpaid charges. The victim then left the shop, with the defendant following closely. Both individuals, reportedly heavily intoxicated, ended up lying down on the grass in the vacant lot. Around 12:30 AM on January 11, 2026, the victim woke up to urinate, and the defendant also awoke. At this point, the victim allegedly punched the defendant in the chest. Enraged, the defendant grabbed a stone and struck the victim on the back of the head. He then used a larger stone to hit the victim again, rendering him unconscious and unresponsive. Believing the victim to be dead, the defendant dragged the body to the side of the lot's fence and then returned to his rented room about 3 kilometers away. The body was later discovered by children flying kites, who then alerted the authorities. During the hearing, the defendant admitted to his actions and pleaded for leniency.
