Vietnam Weather Update: Typhoon No. 5 Dissipates, Northern Regions Face Heatwave, Southern Areas to See Afternoon Rain

On September 4th, Typhoon No. 5 dissipated over mainland China, with no direct impact on Vietnam. According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, northern regions (excluding Quang Ninh and Lang Son provinces) and areas from Thanh Hoa to Da Nang city and eastern Quang Ngai province are expected to experience a heatwave with maximum temperatures reaching 35-36°C, and some areas exceeding 36°C. Meanwhile, southern and central highland regions will be cloudy with scattered rain and thunderstorms, with heavy rain possible in some areas in the evening. Typhoon No. 5 weakened into a tropical depression and then a low-pressure area over northeastern Guangdong province, China, after moving west-southwest at about 10 km/h. It no longer poses a direct threat to Vietnam. Hanoi will be cloudy with sunny spells and a heatwave, with minimum temperatures of 25-27°C and maximums of 35-36°C. Similar hot weather is forecast for the Northwest and Northeast regions, with highs of 34-36°C. Thanh Hoa to Hue will also see a heatwave with highs of 34-36°C. The South Central Coast will have sunny periods, with some northern areas experiencing a heatwave, reaching highs of 34-36°C. The Central Highlands will be cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms, and potential heavy rain in the evening. Temperatures will range from 18-21°C to 25-28°C. Southern Vietnam will be cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms, and potential heavy rain in the evening. Temperatures will range from 25-28°C to 31-34°C. Ho Chi Minh City is expected to experience similar weather. The recent 5-day National Day holiday, from September 2nd, saw favorable weather across the country, allowing citizens and tourists to enjoy leisure activities and shopping.
