Hanoi Seeks Public Opinion on Red River Urban Planning Adjustments

Hanoi's Department of Construction has launched a public consultation on proposed adjustments to urban planning along the Red River. This involves the overall adjustment of urban planning at a 1/5,000 scale for the section of the Red River from Hong Ha Bridge to Me So Bridge, aiming to foster unity and consensus during the planning implementation. The consultation will involve local residents, various agencies, and organizations. The Red River is designated as a central development axis in the 100-year vision for Hanoi Capital. These planning adjustments focus on concretizing the development of this Red River axis and promoting the planning and investment in the Red River's floodplains (bãi sông Hồng). Hanoi has established a working group to implement the Red River Landscape Boulevard Project, and these urban planning adjustments are linked to the advancement of this large-scale initiative. The areas along the Red River are expected to become a driving force for the development of the Red River Delta region. In Vietnam, urban planning is implemented by local governments under the guidance of the central government. Within the single-party system, the Party's leadership is generally reflected in the formulation and execution of plans. The development along the Red River is expected to contribute to Hanoi's economic growth and urban functional enhancement, as well as create opportunities for infrastructure development and real estate. Simultaneously, careful consideration and response are required for the social impacts, such as resident relocation and changes in living environments, that may arise with the progress of the plan, through public consultation.
