Online Scam Hub in Phnom Penh Raided, 7 Foreign Nationals Arrested

An online scam operation believed to be a hub for fraudulent activities has been busted in Cambodia's capital, Phnom Penh, resulting in the arrest of seven individuals of Bangladeshi nationality. The operation took place on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at a house located at House No. 25, Street 06, in Borey Lai Kong, Village Mle, Sangkat Dangkor, Khan Dangkor, Phnom Penh. Specialized forces from the Dangkor District Unity Command conducted an inspection and discovered the location of the online scam operation. As a result of the inspection, seven foreign suspects, identified as Bangladeshi nationals, were apprehended. Seized evidence includes three laptop computers and twenty-two mobile phones. Of these, thirteen mobile phones were reportedly used for the scam activities, while the remaining nine were for personal use. The seven suspects and the seized evidence have been transferred to the Phnom Penh Municipal Police Commissionerate for further investigation. Subsequently, they will be sent to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court Prosecutor's Office to proceed with legal proceedings according to the law. This bust is seen as part of a broader effort to crack down on cybercrime, particularly online scams, within Cambodia. The region has seen a rise in organized fraudulent activities by scam syndicates in recent years, with Cambodia emerging as a location for such operations.
