Cambodia Forecast: Rain, Thunderstorms, and Gusts Expected Across 70% of Land Area
Cambodia's Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology forecasts that from September 13-15, low pressure systems over the Bay of Bengal and South China Sea will cause rain with thunderstorms and gusts across 70% of the country. Widespread impacts are expected in plains and plateau regions, with coastal areas also advised to be cautious.
Rain with thunderstorms and gusts is expected across Cambodia from September 13th to 15th. According to the weather forecast released by the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology, low pressure systems over the Bay of Bengal, Andaman Sea, and South China Sea are influencing the southwest monsoon winds blowing over the Mekong River basin, the Cambodian sea, and the Kingdom of Cambodia. This weather pattern is expected to affect the following areas from September 13th to 15th, 2026: 1. Plains Areas: Minimum temperature 25°C and maximum temperature 33°C. Winds from the southwest and northwest will blow at an average speed of 3 meters/second. Banteay Meanchey, Battambang, Pursat, Kampong Chhnang, Siem Reap, Kampong Thom, Kampong Cham, Tboung Khmum, Prey Veng, Svay Rieng, Takeo, Kandal provinces, and Phnom Penh capital may experience rain with thunderstorms and gusts covering 70% of the land area. 2. Plateau Areas: Minimum temperature 24°C and maximum temperature 32°C. Winds from the southwest and west will blow at an average speed of 5 meters/second. Kampong Speu, Pailin, Oddar Meanchey, Preah Vihear, Kratie, Stung Treng, Ratanakiri, Mondulkiri provinces, the Dangrek mountain range, and the Cardamom mountain range may experience rain with thunderstorms and gusts covering 70% of the land area. 3. Coastal Areas: Minimum temperature 25°C and maximum temperature 34°C. Winds from the southwest and southeast will blow at an average speed of 3 meters/second. Koh Kong, Preah Sihanouk, Kampot, Kep provinces, and the Bokor mountain range may experience rain with thunderstorms and gusts covering 50% of the land area. Sea waves will have an average height of 0.50 meters and a maximum height of 1.70 meters.
