Vietnam's Top Leader Meets US Corporate Giants, Exploring Economic Ties

General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President To Lam met with representatives of several major US corporations in New York on the afternoon of September 23 (local time). The meeting took place during his trip to the US to attend the high-level general debate of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly and conduct bilateral activities. During the discussions, General Secretary and President To Lam reportedly proposed three pillars of cooperation with US enterprises. Active exchanges of views were held with the US corporate representatives regarding specific areas of cooperation and measures to promote investment. Vietnam, under its one-party system, has achieved rapid economic growth and is actively attracting foreign direct investment (FDI), particularly in manufacturing and technology sectors. The United States is a crucial trading partner for Vietnam, and bilateral economic relations have deepened significantly in recent years. Amidst rising geopolitical tensions with China, Vietnam is increasingly attractive to US companies seeking to diversify their supply chains, serving as an alternative production base.
