Gerindra Denies Prabowo's Involvement in Corruption Probe, Cautions Lawyer

JAKARTA - The Gerindra Party has strongly criticized lawyer Hotman Paris for his statement linking President Prabowo Subianto to the handling of the legal case involving former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah. Bambang Haryadi, Chairman of the DPP Gerindra Party, stated on Sunday, July 19, that such an association is "very untrue and contrary to President Prabowo's commitment to eradicating corruption." Haryadi emphasized that President Prabowo has consistently committed to not protecting anyone involved in corruption, including his own party cadres and government officials. He highlighted that the President provides space for law enforcement officers to work independently without interference from any party. As proof, Haryadi pointed to several regional heads affiliated with Gerindra who are currently undergoing prosecution, as well as cabinet members, including deputy ministers, who are also being processed legally. The Gerindra Party urged Hotman Paris not to involve the President's name in defending his client. They reiterated that President Prabowo has never interfered with law enforcement processes, underscoring his respect for the independence of judicial institutions.
