NTT Earthquake Damages 177 Health Facilities, Minister Requests Rp1.39 Trillion Budget

A major earthquake that struck Indonesia's East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) province has caused extensive damage to the region's healthcare infrastructure. According to official reports, 165 community health centers (Puskesmas) and 12 hospitals have been affected. In response to this devastation, the Indonesian Minister of Health has formally requested a budget of Rp1.39 trillion (approximately US$90 million) from the government to fund recovery and reconstruction efforts for the damaged health facilities and hospitals. This requested budget is expected to cover large-scale renovations, rebuilding of the affected facilities, and the procurement of essential medical equipment and supplies. NTT province is among the less developed regions in Indonesia, and the damage to its healthcare infrastructure due to the earthquake could further hinder access to public health services for its residents. Swift government action and adequate budget allocation will be crucial for the recovery of the affected areas and the maintenance of public health.
