Cambodian Prime Minister and Wife Provide Humanitarian Aid to 35 Impoverished Veteran and Citizen Families
Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and his wife have provided humanitarian aid, including food and essential supplies, to 35 impoverished veteran and citizen families in Dang Kambet village, Sandan district, Kampong Thom province. Progress in local development was also reported.
Kampong Thom, Cambodia, July 7, 2026 -- Major General Som Son, Commander of the Regional Military Operation Area of Kampong Thom and Deputy Permanent Chairman of the Kampong Thom Provincial Association of Veterans and Retired Officials, along with colleagues from the government working group, on the morning of July 7, 2026, delivered humanitarian aid from Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet and his wife, Dr. Pich Chanmony, to 35 families of veterans and impoverished citizens in Dang Kambet village, Sandan district, Kampong Thom province. Mr. Lun Yen, Chairman of the Dang Kambet Commune Council, reported on the general situation in the commune and expressed his deepest gratitude to Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet and his wife, through the commune-based working group, for continuously helping to solve all kinds of difficulties for the residents of Dang Kambet commune. He also wished the Prime Minister, his wife, and all members of the working group the four blessings of Buddhism. On this occasion, Major General Som Son conveyed the greetings and concerns from Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet and his wife, Dr. Pich Chanmony, as well as from His Excellency Noun Pharath, Governor of Kampong Thom Province and Chairman of the Kampong Provincial Association of Veterans and Retired Officials, and his wife. The Prime Minister, Governor, and their wives always pay close attention to the welfare and living conditions of the veteran brothers and sisters, as well as the impoverished citizens. They also wished all veterans and citizens good health and the four blessings of Buddhism. Major General Som Son stated that in the past, Dang Kambet commune, located at the remote end of Sandan district and bordering Rung Reang and Reap Joy communes of Rovieng district, Preah Vihear province, faced significant difficulties in transporting agricultural products and traveling to the Sandan district center. However, currently, with the attention of the head of government through the working group stationed in Kampong Thom province and Sandan district, Dang Kambet commune has seen new changes with the construction of water retention structures worth millions of dollars to serve the agricultural sector in Kampong Thom province. In addition, roads and bridges have been constructed to facilitate faster transportation of goods, both west and east of the Sen River in Dang Kambet commune. The working group has also assisted in the construction of kuti (monk's quarters) and uposatha halls, along with other achievements at Sre Veal East Pagoda. Furthermore, a ferry boat, a donation from Samdech Thipadei, has been handed over to the Dang Kambet Commune Council for transporting students and citizens across the Sen River. Major General Som Son appealed to all veterans and citizens to believe in the correct leadership of the Prime Minister of Cambodia, especially concerning border issues. He highlighted that in the past, Thai soldiers had illegally encroached upon and occupied parts of Cambodia's territorial integrity, but currently, the Prime Minister of Cambodia is making every effort to resolve these issues through various existing mechanisms, peacefully and through international legal mechanisms, to reclaim Cambodia's territorial integrity. Major General Som Son and the working group distributed food and essential supplies to the 35 families of veterans and impoverished citizens.
