Pattaya Completes 30km Railway Road Upgrade to Boost Traffic and EEC Logistics

PATTAYA, Thailand – Pattaya has completed a major upgrade of roads running alongside the railway line on both sides of the city, covering more than 30 kilometers, as part of efforts to improve traffic flow, reduce flooding problems, and strengthen transport connections supporting the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC). The Pattaya Railway Road Improvement Project was developed as a key infrastructure initiative aimed at addressing long-standing urban challenges, including traffic congestion, deteriorating road surfaces, and water drainage issues. The project was carried out in multiple phases covering both the eastern and western sides of the railway corridor, creating an alternative route for motorists and improving connectivity between communities, businesses, and key areas of the city. Recent aerial images shared by the Facebook page “Pattaya Mayor Beer’s Direct Line” showed the progress of the upgraded railway roads, with the overall project now reported to be almost 100 percent complete. The improvements are expected to provide smoother travel for residents and visitors while supporting Pattaya’s role as a major tourism and economic center in the EEC region. The project was initiated during the previous administration under Poramet Ngampichet, who is set to return for his second term as Pattaya mayor, with the goal of improving the city’s infrastructure and preparing Pattaya for future growth. Officials said the upgraded railway routes will help reduce pressure on major roads, improve logistics efficiency, and support stronger links between Pattaya and wider EEC development areas.
