Vietnam-Russia Summit Expected to Deepen Economic and Security Cooperation

In particular, Vietnam's maintenance of ties with Russia amidst its ongoing conflict in Ukraine is seen as embodying Vietnam's consistent foreign policy of "equidistance diplomacy." This is part of Vietnam's strategy to maximize national interests while balancing relations with major powers. A Russian Deputy Prime Minister has expressed intentions to elevate bilateral cooperation to "new heights," praising Vietnam as a "resilient and beautiful country." This statement suggests the robustness of the strategic partnership between the two nations. While continuing its economic growth, Vietnam faces geopolitical complexities.
