JAKARTA - Indonesia AirAsia has decided to postpone a number of flights to and from Jakarta following the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau which is still ongoing in the Sunda Strait, Sunday, September 6, 2026. "In connection with this condition, a number of AirAsia flights from and to Jakarta have been canceled or rescheduled. Previously reported, AirNav Indonesia again extended the temporary closure of airspace at three airports following the spread of volcanic ash from Mount Anak Krakatau. The three airports are Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, and Radin Inten II Airport. EVP of Corporate Secretary AirNav Indonesia, Hermana Soegijantoro, said the extension of the closure was carried out through an update to the Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) in accordance with the development of the airspace conditions. "AirNav Indonesia through the Indonesia Network Management Center (INMC) continues to monitor the development of the airspace conditions and the spread of volcanic ash from Mount Anak Krakatau. Aeronautical information updates are carried out periodically according to the latest developments to support flight safety," said Hermana in a written statement, Sunday, September 6, 2026. For Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, the closure was extended based on NOTAM A3346/26 (NOTAMR A3344/26). The closure is valid from 08.36 WIB, with an estimated reopening at 13.30 WIB. Meanwhile, the closure of Halim Perdanakusuma Airport was extended through NOTAM A3347/26 (NOTAMR A3345/26). The closure is valid from 09.49 WIB and is expected to reopen at 14.00 WIB. The Radin Inten II Airport was extended through NOTAM B1125/26 (NOTAMR B1124/26) from 09.55 WIB, with an estimated reopening at 14.00 WIB.
