River water levels exceed warning levels in 3 townships

In Homalin Township, Phaungpyin Township in Sagaing Region, and Madauk Township in Bago Region, river water levels have exceeded warning levels, according to a release from the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology at 8 AM on July 15. According to measurements taken at 6:30 AM on July 15, the Chindwin River water level at Homalin Township is over half a foot above the warning level, and it is expected to fall back below the warning level within the next day. In Phaungpyin Township, the Chindwin River water level is also over half a foot above the warning level, and it may rise by another half a foot within the next day, remaining above the warning level. Similarly, the Sittang River water level at Madauk Township is about one foot above the warning level, and it may fall by half a foot within the next day, remaining above the warning level at Madauk Township, according to the release. The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology has also issued a notification for residents living near the riverbanks and in low-lying areas of Homalin, Phaungpyin, and Madauk townships, where river water levels have exceeded warning levels, to be vigilant and to evacuate to safer locations to avoid flood damage.
