Group fight between Thai and Myanmar nationals in Samut Prakan after honking, 3 Myanmar nationals seriously injured

Mekong, July 7 A group fight broke out between Thai nationals and Myanmar migrant workers in Samut Prakan province, Ban Sao Thong district, after Myanmar youths honked their motorcycle horns, leading to a verbal dispute and subsequent physical altercation, resulting in three Myanmar nationals sustaining serious injuries. The incident occurred past midnight on July 5, and it was reported that the dispute over the motorcycle honking escalated into a physical confrontation. During the incident, approximately 20 Myanmar nationals clashed with two Thai nationals, and it was reported that the Thai side called other friends, leading to group fighting and beatings between both sides. "We are working in another country, so we need to be careful with all our actions. We should not try to resolve minor disputes by forming groups. We need to avoid actions that could create a bad impression of other Myanmar workers because of us," a Myanmar migrant worker told Mekong. During the incident, Ko Tun Min Lwin, 47, Ko Myo Kyaw Thu, 37, and Ko Shin, 33, sustained severe lacerations to their heads and ears and were taken to the hospital for treatment. Additionally, two Thai nationals also sustained minor injuries. Bloodstains and broken beer bottles were found at the scene, and police are investigating the exact cause of the incident and continuing to identify and take action against those involved.
