Vietnamese Community in Laos, Singapore Honor President Ho Chi Minh on National Day

Ahead of Vietnam's 81st National Day on September 2, Vietnamese communities in Laos and Singapore are commemorating President Ho Chi Minh through cultural events. In Laos, the Vietnamese Embassy, the Vietnam Cultural Centre in Laos, and the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum are co-hosting an art exhibition featuring 50 paintings by the late overseas Vietnamese artist Dao Trong Ly, created between 2018 and 2024. This display serves as a cultural highlight for Vietnam’s National Day and aims to strengthen the special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos. Domestically, various events are marking the occasion. Ho Chi Minh City has announced a US$9.5 billion infrastructure push, while Ca Mau province raised a record 2,025 sq.m flag. A flag-raising ceremony was also held in Vietnam's northernmost region. These events underscore the significance of National Day in fostering national unity and patriotism within Vietnam's one-party system. They also reflect efforts to enhance Vietnam's international presence and solidarity through engagement with overseas communities and friendly nations.
