PNP Pledges Support to Family of Slain Batangas Cop

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday said it will provide assistance to the family of the slain police officer who died attempting to apprehend a robbery suspect in Balayan, Batangas, during a follow-up operation. Police Staff Sgt. Von Rico Macuha, who was assigned to the Sta. Teresita Municipal Police Station, died after being shot while trying to arrest the suspect. PNP spokesperson Police Colonel Jean Fajardo said that they will provide assistance to the family of the slain police officer. "We will provide assistance to the family of our fallen comrade," Fajardo said. Fajardo said that Macuha was killed during a follow-up operation against a robbery suspect when the suspect shot him. "The suspect shot him while they were in the middle of an operation," Fajardo said. Macuha was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival. Fajardo said that the PNP is currently conducting an operation to apprehend the suspect. "We are pursuing the suspect and we will bring him to justice," Fajardo said.
