Takeo Province Governor Urges Accelerated Issuance of National ID Cards to Citizens

In Takeo Province, southern Cambodia, Governor Vai Sornang has sternly instructed local authorities and relevant security forces at all levels to accelerate and further strengthen the issuance of Cambodian national identity cards to citizens. This directive was given during a meeting with commune party members from Kaoh Andaet and Borei Cholsar districts on Saturday, September 19, 2026. The provincial governor emphasized that the Cambodian national identity card is an essential document for every individual, particularly for voter registration. Therefore, he stated that responsible officials and commune/district authorities must go directly to the local communities to issue identity cards to citizens who have reached the eligible age, those with expired cards, those who have lost their cards, or those who have never obtained one. Concurrently, Governor Vai Sornang also called for widespread dissemination of information regarding the importance of the Cambodian national identity card for daily life, access to public services, and the exercise of the right to vote. During the occasion, the Chairman of the Takeo Provincial Party Committee also instructed all party members to serve the people in their respective areas to the best of their abilities. This includes providing timely services, understanding the well-being of the residents, and assisting in resolving the difficulties and various needs of the local population, thereby ensuring that every citizen can fully enjoy their rights and public services.
