Preah Sihanouk Provincial Health Department Intervenes with Dengue Fever Prevention and Mosquito Spraying in Communities and Schools

The Preah Sihanouk Provincial Health Department has intervened to control the spread of dengue fever and chikungunya in Prey Nob and Kampong Seila districts. The intervention, which took place on Friday, August 7, 2026, targeted areas including Tanai village (Tanai commune) and Veal Meas village (Veal Renh commune) in Prey Nob district, and Stueng Chey North village (Stueng Chey commune) in Kampong Seila district. The operation involved spraying insecticides to kill Aedes mosquitoes in educational institutions such as Tanai Primary School, Veal Renh High School, and Veal Renh Primary School. Furthermore, teams from the Provincial Health Department's dengue and chikungunya program conducted health education for 67 households and sprayed insecticides around 122 households in the affected communities. The spraying also covered three schools in Prey Nob and Kampong Seila districts. Due to the ongoing rainy season and the rise in dengue fever and chikungunya cases in several villages and communes within Preah Sihanouk province, the Provincial Health Department will continue its mosquito spraying interventions and public awareness campaigns. Residents are urged to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds around their homes, such as discarded tires, motorcycle tires, coconut shells, and water-filled containers, to protect the health of their children and the public from Aedes mosquito bites.
