Hanoi House Fire: Five Rescued Safely

A fire broke out at a private house located on Tran Vy Street in Phu Dien Ward, Hanoi, on the morning of September 21, around 9:00 AM. Fortunately, five people inside the building were successfully rescued and have been transported to the hospital for treatment. The building, a four-story structure, was being used as a costume rental shop. At the time of the fire, multiple individuals were inside, and witnesses reported seeing intense flames and thick black smoke billowing from the house. Local residents immediately called emergency services (114) and attempted to fight the fire. Witness B.X., who lives in the vicinity, stated, "As soon as we heard shouts of fire, we ran out to see. The smoke had already enveloped the house, and we weren't sure how many people were trapped. Some of us called the fire department, while others tried to find any available means to extinguish the fire, but the smoke was still very thick. Fortunately, the authorities arrived in time." Upon receiving the report, the Phu Dien Ward Police, in coordination with the Hanoi City Police's Firefighting and Rescue Unit No. 11, rushed to the scene to organize firefighting and search for trapped individuals. In conditions of dense smoke and high temperatures, the duty personnel gradually approached the area where people were trapped. Simultaneously, residents living in adjacent houses actively cooperated, creating favorable conditions for the rescue team to deploy equipment and access the scene. The fire was brought under control around 9:25 AM. The functional forces rescued 5 people and took them to 198 Hospital for emergency treatment. At the scene, the house where the fire occurred was identified as a four-story building used as a costume rental shop. Currently, the cause of the fire is being investigated and clarified by the relevant authorities. In Vietnam, the risk of fires is a constant concern, particularly in densely populated urban areas and due to varying adherence to building codes. Buildings that combine commercial and residential functions often present challenges in terms of initial firefighting and ensuring clear evacuation routes. This incident highlights how prompt reporting and the swift response of the fire department, coupled with community cooperation, can lead to successful rescues.
