Kawthoung PDO arrests youth with drugs in Kawthoung Region

A young man using stimulant tablets was arrested along with the tablets in Kawthoung Township, Tanintharyi Region, the Kawthoung Township People’s Defense Organization (PDO-KT) announced in a statement dated 29 July. According to PDO-KT, the group was conducting a territorial clearance operation within the township when it arrested 17-year-old Maung Aung Min Thu, a resident of Pawt Thoke village, on a road while he was using stimulant tablets, with 25 WY stimulant tablets found in his possession. During questioning, he also confessed to stealing and selling a chainsaw from a house in Nan Nwe village, according to the statement. “There are many drug users. There are many sellers too. Thieves are also appearing,” Bo La Pyae, the township in-charge, told Mizzima. The Kawthoung Township People’s Defense Organization said he will continue to be prosecuted according to standard procedures.
