Cambodia and Iran Eye Stronger Ties with New Ambassador's Arrival
Cambodia's Acting Head of State, Hun Sen, expressed hope for strengthened bilateral relations with Iran following the arrival of the new Iranian Ambassador. He particularly seeks to expand economic and trade ties, with a focus on the agricultural sector.
Acting Head of State of Cambodia, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, expressed hope that the relations between Cambodia and Iran will be further strengthened through the new Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Cambodia. This was revealed by His Excellency Chea Thireth, Spokesperson for the Senate, after Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Acting Head of State of the Kingdom of Cambodia, granted a courtesy call and received the letter of credence from His Excellency Akbar Ghasemi Aliabadi, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Kingdom of Cambodia, on the afternoon of September 9, 2026, at the Hall of Peace. During the meeting, Samdech Techo expressed his joy on behalf of His Majesty the King of Cambodia. Samdech Techo welcomed and congratulated His Excellency on his appointment as Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Kingdom of Cambodia. Samdech Techo expressed hope that, in his capacity as Ambassador, His Excellency will further strengthen the relations between Cambodia and Iran. On this occasion, the Ambassador of Iran to Cambodia expressed his gratitude to Samdech Techo for granting him the opportunity to meet and present his letter of credence. His Excellency stated that he is aware of Samdech Techo's commitment to strengthening relations between Cambodia and Iran, making them more active and prosperous. Concurrently, Samdech Techo emphasized his desire to see further development and expansion of economic and trade relations between the two countries, with a particular focus on the agricultural sector.
