Vietnam, Bulgaria Eye Tangible Results from Strategic Partnership

Vietnam and Bulgaria are poised to enhance cooperation to translate their Strategic Partnership into tangible results, marking a new era in their bilateral relations. The establishment of this partnership was a key outcome of the official visit by the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee to Bulgaria in October 2025. During a recent ceremony celebrating the 81st anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day (September 2, 1945 – 2026), attended by over 350 delegates, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Bulgaria emphasized that the Strategic Partnership signifies a new phase for the two nations. Key areas identified for enhanced collaboration include the medical sector, where both countries are seeking to deepen ties through the exchange of expertise and technological advancements. The tourism industry is also a focus, with both nations aiming for more substantive and sustainable cooperation, including joint promotional efforts and the mutual leveraging of their unique tourism offerings. Moreover, legal and judicial cooperation is set to be intensified, fostering a better understanding of each other's legal frameworks and strengthening collaborative efforts in law enforcement. These initiatives reflect Vietnam's broader foreign policy objectives, particularly its efforts to deepen engagement with European partners within the framework of its continued economic development and its one-party political system.
