PH Gov't Work Suspended Afternoon of Sept. 28 for National Family Week

Malacañang on Thursday announced the suspension of government work on September 28, starting at 1 p.m., to commemorate the 34th National Family Week. This aligns with Proclamation 60, series of 1992, which designates the last week of September annually as Family Week. It also follows Proclamation 326, series of 2012, which declared the fourth Monday of every September as "Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga" (Family Mealtime is Important) Day. "Work in all agencies and instrumentalities of the National Government, including government-owned or -controlled corporations and state universities and colleges, shall be suspended on 28 September 2026 starting 1:00 in the afternoon," Executive Secretary Ralph Recto stated in Memorandum Circular 136. However, government agencies whose functions involve the delivery of basic and health services, as well as disaster response, will continue their operations. The directive from the Palace also encourages government workers in the executive branch to support activities related to National Family Week. "The suspension of work in other branches of government, independent commissions or bodies, and the private sector is also encouraged to afford all Filipino families the full opportunity to celebrate the 34th National Family Week," Recto wrote in the order.
