Mondulkiri Province Arrests 8 Suspects in Drug Case Affecting Local Security

Mondulkiri Province is intensifying its crackdown on drug-related crimes. In collaboration with local authorities and under judicial coordination, the Provincial Police Headquarters has arrested eight suspects involved in the alleged trafficking and illegal possession of narcotics. These individuals have been sent to the provincial court for legal proceedings. According to a report from the Mondulkiri Provincial Police Headquarters, the operation took place on July 15, 2026, in Chong Phlea commune, Keo Seima district of Mondulkiri province. The arrested suspects, aged between 17 and 42, all reside in Putong village, Chong Phlea commune, Keo Seima district. The individuals are identified as Yeng Sokkhea, 35; Mon Mang, 31; Khiev Bunthon, 42; Soh Sona, 17; Thy Chiva, 30; Houn Heng, 17; Chin Siha, 18; and Chiev Veng Chetr. During the operation, authorities seized 10 small packages of methamphetamine (locally known as 'ice'), two mobile phones (one black TECNO and one blue OPPO), a set of drug paraphernalia, two knives, and two improvised firearms. The Provincial Police Headquarters stated that this operation was conducted under the leadership of its command to prevent and suppress drug offenses, which pose a challenge to security, public order, and the future of the youth. Concurrently, the authorities are appealing to the public to continue cooperating by providing information related to drug offenses. This collaboration is deemed crucial for effectively preventing and eradicating the issue within communities, thereby maintaining security, safety, and public order.
